From Compostmodern09

Greetings from Compostmodern09 – San Francisco

I was planning on doing some live blogging from the event, but I ran into some issues.

For those of you who dont know:
Compostmodern is an annual interdisplanery design
conference focused on sustainability.

The event was put on by:
AIGA San Francisco and
AIGA Center for Sustainable Design

FYI: AIGA Cleveland is showing the webcast of the conference on
Friday, Feb 27 (link)

Lots of hills

This is the Herbst Theatre (on right)

People still coming in, almost ready to start

The stage

Now on to the conference itself – some highlights.

"Scale is the new geography"
– Eames Demetrios (Grandson of Charles and Ray Eames)

Re-thinking your process means going beyond just soy inks, recycled stock, and other various production aspects, but rather looking at the design itself for achieving sustainability.

This was a board that was set up to help visualize this idea of scale ( used in a workshop)
It is this idea of scale that links the smallest cells to our galaxy.

Overall this was a great conference with enough creative inspiration to last months.
